What are the three sections of Acadia?

Mount Desert Island, Schoodic Peninsula, and Isle Au Haut. Most visitors stick to Mount Desert Island (MDI) which includes famous areas like Sand Beach, Thunderhole, and Cadillac Mountain. Schoodic Peninsula is about a 45 minute drive from the inn, is the only part of the Park on the mainland, and features breathtaking views of the Atlantic. You can also get a good view of Mount Schoodic from the lawn or the balcony of Room 7. Isle Au Haut is accessible only by boat and is the least visited part of the Park.

Measuring from base to summit, what is the highest mountain on Earth?

Mauna Loa, in Hawai’i. You’d be forgiven for saying “Mount Everest,” but Everest is the highest only in elevation. Mauna Loa, in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, extends only 13,679 feet above sea level, but its base is over 40,000 feet under the sea, giving it a total elevation gain of over 55,000 feet! It is the largest active volcano in the world and has been erupting consistently for the last 700,000 years.
